Lessons - Under 18

The Mackinac Horsemen's Association offers lessons for adults and children. Watch for information on registration for lessons.

4H Galloping Gliders (for 9-18 year olds):

• 8 Week Lesson Program on our horse………………………………$145.00
• 8-Week Lesson Program on your horse………………………………120.00
• Required to attend riding clinics, MHA events and stable clinics.
• Lesson program is payable in advance and orientation is required before you
  can begin lessons.
• You must join the 4-H Horse Club (dues included in lesson fee).

4H Giddy-Up & Go (for 5 to 8 year olds):
These riders will be required to have an adult present during the entire lesson.

Payment will be $48.00 for a 4 lesson punch card, $72.00 for a 6 lesson punch card or $13.00 each. Young riders are not required to attend lessons every week.

Semi-Private Lessons (For riders 19 years and older, English or Western, any experience level, 2 or 3 riders per lesson)

One hour lesson
$50 on our horse

One hour lesson
$40 on your horse

Private lessons (For riders 19 years and older, looking for an intensive individualized experience, English or Wester)

One hour lesson
$60 on our horse

One hour lesson
$50 on your horse

Lesson Times
Lessons are offered on Tuesday afternoons by instructor Anne Miller and Thursday mornings with Leanne Brodeur. Check the Events schedule and Clinics pages for special clinics. Your lesson day and time will be set for your 8 week session. No changes will be made, except through the special permission of the Director.

Sponsorships and Scholarships
Please contact the Director for information on sponsors and scholarships for the 4-H programs.

Requirements
Helmets are required for all lessons. Liability waivers are required for all riders. Minors must have a legal guardian's signature. Download a liability release form here and a City of Mackinac Island Release, Assumption of Risk & Indemnification Agreement(PDF format).
