2012 Mackinac 4-H Horse Club Lease Program

4-H Horse Club Lease-a-Horse and Share-a-Lease Programs

Download the 2012 Mackinac 4-H Horse Clubs Lease-A-Horse or Share-A-Horse MHA LEASE, BOARDING CONTRACT AND LIABILITY RELEASE.

4-H Lease program is limited to families with youth under 18 yrs of age. Families must have children enrolled as Mackinac 4-H Horse Club members, be Mackinac Horsemen's Association members and take Mackinac 4-H Horse Club lessons.

4-H Lease-a-Horse Program

In consideration for the use of a 4-H lesson horse provided by MHA, your all inclusive fee, which includes the use of a suitable horse, regular scheduled shoeing, a stall for the horse, feeding twice daily, water, pasture turnout, stall bedding and stall cleaning for the term of the lease. You will pay the cost of any extra amenities (shampoo, fly spray, hoof oil, etc.) and 4-H Horse Club lessons. The horse will be stabled at the Mackinac Community Equestrian Center (MCEC), which stable MHA has procured for this purpose. MHA will also provide a place for the storage of Lessee's tack. During the term of this agreement MHA may use the leased horse for MHA/Mackinac 4-H Club participants for up to 10 scheduled hours per week. Use of the leased horse is limited to immediate family members* only. Adult family members will need to take Orientation I & II, review all MCEC Rules and policies and take an on-site check ride prior to taking leased horse off site.  

4-H Share-a-Lease Program

The Share-a-Lease program follows the same considerations as the Lease-a-Horse program except you will be sharing the horse with another 4-H family. This involves good communication skills and the understanding that you are sharing this horse. The horse is scheduled10 hours per week for the 4-H program leaving approx. 70 hours of use per week for both families.

* Immediate family members are parents, grandparents, guardians and siblings only.
